The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board invites everyone in the Cobourg area to suggest possible names for the new secondary school coming to Cobourg.
The revitalized school will bring together the student populations of Cobourg District Collegiate Institutes East and West. It will be located on the current CDCI East campus, with completion scheduled for September 2015. The process for combining the two former schools will take place over two years. All students new to Grade 9 in September 2014 will attend the new secondary school on the East campus. The remaining CDCI West students (those now in Grade 9 and 10) will move to the new school in September 2015.
A joint board/community school naming committee will welcome suggestions from all students, parents, guardians, staff members, school councils and community members for the new school. The deadline for submissions is January 10, 2014.
Suggestion forms are available from our school office, and at www.kprschools.ca Each entry must include the senders name, position (e.g., student, parent, etc.), address and phone number, as well as background information and rationale explaining the reasons for suggesting the name.
Board policy favours names that are based on people who have made positive contributions to society; current or historical areas served by the school; the street on which the school will be located; and the diversity of the school communities served.
All entries must be sent by Friday, January 10, 2014 to:
